YOU in UK top 100 Companies to Work for
It was a night to remember for the Portsmouth-based charity YOU when it was named as one of the best companies to work for in the Sunday Times ‘100 Best Companies to Work For’ list at a glittering awards ceremony in London.
At the event, hosted by Kate Silverton, the team at YOU led by Chief Executive Nicola Youern, and Director of People & Learning Liz Page, received the award on behalf of all of their 450 staff, who operate across Hampshire and Dorset.
The Sunday Times, who placed the charity at 96, stated that according to the staff, the wonder of YOU lies in its spirit of camaraderie, the great training opportunities on offer and the positive difference it makes to the community. The charity also achieved a top five score for employees saying that work is an important part of who they are and a top 15 score for staff appreciating the training they receive. With £745 per head being spent each year on YOU’s training, these courses cover basic drugs awareness, communication, suicide and self-harm and motivational interviewing.
As an organisation focused on delivering outstanding person-centred care, advice and support to over 12,000 people each year, the workforce at YOU is the organisation’s most valuable asset and is the factor to which YOU’s Chief Executive, Nicola Youern, attributes the organisation’s recent success: “The ‘Best Companies’ award is clearly a reflection on our staff and the positive ‘can-do’ attitude that everyone at YOU possesses. Each has a desire to improve continually and they always have the interests of our service users at heart. I would like to thank all of my colleagues for their hard work over this past twelve months, and more, that has helped us to achieve this prestigious award.”
