New disability service for Winchester and Test Valley
Residents of Winchester and Test Valley with learning or physical disabilities or mental ill health can now access an innovative service which will support them to live more independently in their own homes.
The new service, Compass Point, which has been launched by Southern Focus Trust, will allocate fully-trained support workers to individuals to enable them to maintain their tenancy and to gain the confidence and skills needed to increase their independence, reduce the risk of homelessness or loss of independence.
Head of Department, Jane Jakeman, said: “The aim of Compass Point is to promote independence. No one wants to continually rely on other people and this service will enable people to ultimately gain enough self confidence to live as independently as possible, so they can live the best life they can.”
Each individual who is eligible will receive a mutually agreed amount of support per week at a time which suits them, based on their needs and circumstance.
